Oxidised mild steel, MDF.
Three 1x1m mild steel surfaces illustrate cell structures through controlled oxidisation. Using hydrophobic materials, oxidisation is controlled. The process relies on my memory of what and where I painted. After oxidisation has started, it can not be changed.
The surfaces embody controlled decay; a manifestation of impermanence, while the metal remains. Transient, with rust morphing with exposure over time, yet fundamentally unchanged.
